High availability is not a backup.

Infrastructure · 22.09.2026 · about 1 min

Two different objectives

High availability aims to support continued operation during specific failures. A backup preserves data for later recovery. Neither replaces the other.

An illustrative example

An accidentally deleted file can also be deleted in a redundant environment. Redundancy alone does not create an earlier file version to restore.

Plan them together

B.I.T.’s services include server infrastructure and backup management. The specific design defines which failures should be addressed and what recovery is required.
